One individual funds Wales first solar power station
A solar power station has been erected in Wales to convert sunlight into electricity for public use. The project was funded by Dr Glen Peters, who also donated the six acre field used. According to Dr Peters, he “basically raided his pension fund as an act of faith” to fund this project, as there was no bank financing available.
The station boasts of 10,000 state-of-the-art solar panels imported from the US, and is expected to generate 1MW initially – enough power for 300 homes – at a cost of £2.5m (N650m).

N650 is not beans – but I’m sure I’ve seen pieces of land (in some parts of Lagos) go for much more than that price. So this is not an irreplicable feat.
